Acura: RLX
It’s a big, plush luxury sedan and…well, you know where this is heading, don’t you? The Acura RLX sparred with cars like the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series. As the former flagship of Acura’s range, it brought all the technology and comfort you’d expect in this sort of car. Unlike some of its rivals, the RLX was never a strong seller, though. Through November 2020, Acura shifted just 983 examples. Contrast that with BMW, who sold 5,363 5 Series in the third quarter alone.
It’s not a surprising move to discontinue the RLX, and it means Acura can focus on sportier models that fit its brand, like the much more popular TLX sedan, as well as the RDX and MDX crossovers.
