The 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan is now the new kid on the block, and it’s joining the most popular and the most hotly contested car segment in United States.  It is the midsize sedan segment and currently four cars are locked in mortal combat for its supremacy: Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Ford Fusion.  These four marks sold 1,391,165 units in 2013.  The Toyota Camry was the volume leader last year, but the Accord and the Altima are picking up steam.  Ford Fusion had a highly successful year as well.  (Check 2013 sales report for all the data.)

Chrysler 200 is outside the top 5 and looking to pounce with the all-new car for 2015.  TFLcar had the opportunity to do a quick 0-60 mph comparison on how the 2015 Chrysler 200 stacks up against the competition on speed and value.

The new 200 chassis is related to an unlikely pair: Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee, which in turn can trace their lineage to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.  It’s not a bad thing as the platform is versatile.  The 200 will come in a range of models and price points.  It will start with the 2015 Chrysler 200 LX at $21,700 (before destination charges) and come with a 2.4L MultiAir2 Tigershark four cylinder engine with 184 hp and 173 lb-ft.  The fancy name points to this engine’s sophisticated valve control system that aims to maximize both power and efficiency.  Chrysler says the car is capable of up to 35 MPG on the highway.

There will be three other models: 200 Limited, 200S, and 200C.  The 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 295 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel-drive are also available.  The Limited model will anything but that.  Chrysler positioned it as the volume seller.  The 200S is the sporty variant, and the 200C is the luxury model.
