2016 Buick Cascada Convertible

Buick has not offered a convertible since the 1990 Buick Reatta. Now, the 2016 Buick Cascada convertible brings top-down motoring back to Buick. This is a stylish and sleek convertible that can accommodate four. If you have been overseas, you may recognize it as a Vauxhall Cascada or Opel Cascada in other markets.

Now, it’s time for the Cascada to make its way to American shores. It brings a long list of noteworthy specifications and features. It’s powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder that produces a surprising 200 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. This is a high output for such a small displacement engine. It even has an overboost feature that briefly bumps the torque up to 221 lb-ft. The 6-speed automatic sends the power to the front wheels.

A sophisticated HiPer Strut front suspension helps to reduce torque steer and make for a smoother ride. There is a Watts Z-link rear axle design in the back. Buick says this system is tuned for better ride, handling, and responsiveness.

The insulated soft-top can come down in 17 seconds and be operated at speeds up to 31 mph. There is a good 13.8 cu-ft of trunk space with the top up, and somewhat limiting 9.8 cu-ft with it down. However, the rear seat do fold down to expand the trunk space. If there is only two of you in the Cascada, you should be able to pack for a long trip.

Naturally, the Cascada has a 7-inch touch screen with Buick IntelliLink system, that features text message alerts and Siri integration for Apple iPhones with iOS 6 or newer. There is OnStar 4G LTE with Wifi hotspot, lane departure warning, rear park assist, and many other safety and convenience features.

The 2016 Buick Cascada goes on sale in early 2016.
