The Jeep Jeepster Concept – Looks Better than it Drives [Video]

While we get to drive awesome concepts during the 2018 Easter Jeep Safari, some vehicles – like the Jeep Jeepster concept – are more about form than function. That’s not an indictment of Jeep’s creations, we all know that they are (usually) not built for serious driving, but the Jeep Jeepster concept was on another level.

What is the Jeep Jeepster concept? It is a Jeep Wrangler JL with a 2-liter, turbocharged engine that is a rolling display of Jeep Performance Parts (née Mopar) components. It’s also a great example of what you can do with unique color schemes. The white on red motiff is very striking.

Covered in Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) lights, bumpers and 37-inch tires, the Jeep Jeepster concept looks as off-road ready as the Nacho Jeep concept. It was lifted two-inches and the rear tire was relocated into the backseat area of the Jeep Jeepster concept; thus, no rear seat.

The JPP boys took the design a step further by lowering and painting the freedom top. It was lowered by two-inches and the windshield was tilted back an additional two-degrees.  The overall look resembles the original Jeepster – from the back.

Driven, it feels like the components don’t enjoy being used. The steering is slow, the ride is ponderous and the overall feel is a bit brittle. The odd part is, the Nacho Jeep concept, a vehicle that has many of these same upgrades, drives great. Odd indeed.

Still, the point of a vehicle like the Jeep Jeepster concept is more to be looked at than driven. It was very popular at the open-to-the-public display at the Walker Drugs’ parking lot in downtown Moab, Utah.
