The 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line is a sexy bargain

I love the Volkswagen CC and so do you. It’s sexy, fun to drive. economical and sexy. It’s so nice – I said it twice. I have yet to sample the newest CC, but I know how good this machine is dynamically. The pricing for the 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line has just been announced at $32,195 for the manual – which is the one real drivers want – right?

That’s not too shabby considering what you get for the dough.

According to Volkswagen, the 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line comes with “Unique R-Line® styling, including an aggressive grille, projector-style foglights , and side skirts, 18-inch “Mallory” aluminum-alloy wheels, Standard RNS 315 navigation system, DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission-equipped models gain paddle shifters.”

Paddles? Well if you MUST. At least we know that the DSG dual-clutch is capable and easy to use.

Okay, I admit to having no idea what “Mallory” wheels means. These wheels are good looking… I always thought Justine Bateman was hot on Family Ties and her character’s name was Mallory – so – I’ll simply say that these wheels are sexy too.

Other additions include a large lower air intake,  stainless-steel R-Line scuff plates, projector-style fog-lights, unique side skirts and R-Line badges.

The 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line’s 200 horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine makes 207 lbs-feet of torque and gets 21 mpg and 31 mpg highway with the six-speed manual transmission.

Considering the base model starts at $30,250 – the 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line’s $32,195 base price is pretty good. Prices for the CC can go all the way up to $41,420 for the 3.6L VR6 4Motion Executive CC.

At about 3,400 lbs, the 2.0-liter engine is peppy and responsive with good passing power over 4,000 rpm. I enjoyed rowing through the CC’s gears and feeling the front end hunker down in corners. Mind you, this was the 2010 base model and it so impressed me that I have wholeheartedly recommended it over the damn-good Passat. The interior of the CC and its materials still impart a feeling of superiority over the Passat, but the Passat is much more roomy.

I must assume that the 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line handles better than the base model I sampled.

Most importantly to a shallow guy like me, the 2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line looks like rolling seduction. I mean, how can you say no to a slick, luxurious, good-looking machine that’s European and affordable? If I needed a third car for schlepping family and I cared about my image – this would be a no-brainer.

Here’s Roman and I playing with a nifty Volkswagen Passat TDI!
