1 Chevy Sonic, 288 guitars, 55 pianos & 1,157 homemade instruments in crazy new OK Go music video

Sonic

What do you get when you combine 1 Chevy Sonic, 288 guitars, 55 pianos & 1,157 homemade, and the band OK Go?

You get this crazy music video hybrid that is part innovative new song and part Chevy Sonic commercial.

According to the video’s description:

The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.

Perhaps the best way to describe this odd hybrid of music and Chevy Sonic advertising is for you to click play below and watch the OK Go “Needing/Getting” music video below for yourselves.

Video: A Day in the Life of an Electic Car

IMG_3045

In the very near future will we all be driving electric cars?

That’s a question that only 10 years ago seemed like a dream, but today with all electric cars like the 2012 Nissan Leaf, it doesn’t seem so far fetched.

Unlike, gasoline powered cars, electric cars can’t be filled up at your local gas station in a few minutes.

Once they run our of electricity…you are well and truly stuck.

This is called range anxiety and it can be all too real.

We decide to find out just how real by spending a day in the life of the all new Nissan Leaf.

Video: Watch Top Gear Season 18 Episode 2 as Richard drives a NASCAR pace car

Top.gear

The BBC car series Top Gear is back again with Season 18 Episode 2.

In this week’s show Richard Hammond travels to Texas in the United States to find out what makes American NASCAR racing such a popular motor sport. In the process he of course gets to drive a Camaro pace car before the big race.

Going to the other end of the word Jeremy and James travel to Beijing, China to check out the crazy state of the Chinese car industry and perhaps best of all they meet Stig’s Kung Fu Chinese cousin.

In the Reasonably Priced Car Matt LeBlanc gets a spin around the Top Gear track while the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster also gets tested on the Top Gear Track.

Check it out below.

But hurry up and watch it before it gets pulled from the Internet.

Best of TFLcar: What’s the most fun car for the fewest dollars?

The 2012 Fiat 500 is one of the most fun cars you can buy today. It comes with a 101 horsepower engine and it also comes with or without a roof  as the 500c.  The Mazda 2 is also all about fun with a splash of utility in the mix. But which one is more fun when you are on a budget?

Review: The 2012 Range Rover is still the most prestigious large SUV roaming the planet

Rr11my0239dfd

The legendary British Range Rover SUV still can’t be topped for snob appeal, and few—if any—can match its luxury and impressive off-road abilities.

The large, beautifully crafted Range Rover is priced at $79,425 to $94,820 and shares its V-8 with Jaguar  One engine is a 5-liter V-8 with 375 horsepower. The other is a supercharged version of that engine with a whopping 510 horsepower.

Both engines work with a responsive, smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission, with manual shifting mode.

I tested the 2012 Range Rover with the 375-horsepower V-8, which is rated at 12 miles per gallon in the city and 18 on highways. But the range is decent because a driver should be able to get 20 miles per gallon during steady highway driving, and the fuel tank capacity is 27.6 gallons.

Review: The 2012 Buick Regal GS is a fine European car in dressed in American style

2012BuickRegalGSMadison

One suggestion for Buick: Blindfold the cross-armed skeptic who’s dubious of the marque’s new, high-performing Regal GS, spin him around a bunch, tell him he’s about to test-drive a new Acura/Audi/BMW/blah blah blah and stick him in a logo-less Regal GS for a cruise. Then listen to him confess to the folly of making snap judgments, take his money, and notch another sale.

Today’s lesson, if I may say, is to avoid quick conclusions. I finally did. For instance, I wanted to like the square-jawed, imposing, and fast Buick right away, and now I do like it a lot. But the Regal GS has drawbacks. Geeks and knowing lead-feet will require precisely four seconds of logo-less drive time to rightly identify that the Regal is front-wheel drive, which means that the front wheels both steer and power the car.

Fiat launches new second gen small pick-up in Europe but America…no Strada for you

2012-Fiat-Strada-3

Car manufacturers have almost completely given up on selling small trucks in America.

Even Ford has said goodbye to the segment by discontinuing the Ford Ranger in the U.S. while at the same time introducing the new Ford Ranger Wildtrak pick-up in Europe (see video below).

Which only leaves Nissan and Toyota selling so called “small” pick-ups in the U.S. market.

Pooch

As you probably already know last year Volkswagen got tens of million of YouTube views with their Star Wars themed Darth Vader Super Bowl commercial.

So this year there was a lot of buzz when VW rolled out another Star Wars themed commercial that has already been viewed 10 million times on YouTube. The so called “The Bark Side” teaser commercials features…you guessed it…dogs in a cool rendition of the Dark Lords theme song from Star Wars.

Now Volkswagen is back with a new Super Bowl commercial that features a chubby out-of- shape dog that decides it needs to get fit to chase cars.

“The Dog Strikes Back” Beetle commercial will air during the 2012 Super Bowl this weekend. But why wait until Super Bowl Sunday when you can watch a chubby dog cross-train right now below.
