Volvo recently announced a new trim level appearing on the 2019 Volvo S60 T8 called Polestar Engineered. Volvo told us it would be subscription-only and extremely limited. Now we know just how limited that is. Volvo plans on bringing just 20 2019 Volvo S60 Polestar Engineered cars to the US, and they aren’t cheap.
Care by Volvo
The S60 will be a part of Volvo’s ‘Care by Volvo’ subscription car service. This is a two year agreement that charges a monthly fee. Included in the price is the cost of the car, maintenance, and insurance through Liberty Mutual. Prices start at $775 a month for the base model, with this 20-unit S60 Polestar Engineered version costing a whopping $1,100 per month. For that price, you could have a 3% interest rate on a brand new M3.
More about the Volvo S60 Polestar Engineered
Polestar is Volvo’s tuning division and a maker of all-electric premium Volvos in the near future. So, what performance upgrades can you expect from this super limited sedan? The hybrid powerplant produces 415 horsepower and 494 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels. Polestar also gives the S60 upgraded suspension and bigger brakes.
How do you possibly get one? (Short answer: You Don’t)
Volvo released the car on the Care by Volvo App today, June 28th at 12 PM EST. Given there were only 20 available, you can guess that they probably sold out. So, you are probably too late already.
Keep your eye out for any S60 sedans with gold brake calipers, because they are basically unicorns.
