The 2016 Lexus IS200t and the Infiniti Q50 are very close competitors. Both are from a luxury division of a large Japanese manufacturer. Both have 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engines in a north-south configuration with a front-rear architecture.
The Infiniti’s engine is actually borrowed from Mercedes-Benz and puts out 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Lexus’ engine makes 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
So it should be a romp for the IS, huh? Not so fast. Roman Mica puts the Infiniti against Nathan Adlen in the Lexus in three challenges – a drag race, a 60-0 braking test, and a hot lap around IMI Motorsports Park in Dacono, Colorado.
