The 2013 Infiniti M Hybrid: A Powerful, Comfortable Gas Miser

2013 Infiniti M Hybrid

The 2013 Infiniti M Hybrid manages to pair a luxury aesthetic with a gas-miserly engine that delivers plenty of power. It drives like a big V-8 sedan but sips gas like a 4-cylinder roller skate.

First and foremost, this car is an Infiniti. It’s got a sleek, beautiful exterior worthy of the brand. Even seated inside, a look over the wide, curved hood makes you feel like you’re in command of an impressive ride. A look at the interior will prove you right.

Everything inside the Infiniti M Hybrid oozes luxury, from the the leather seats to the Japanese Ash wood trim. Sitting down in the drivers seat is like taking a seat in your favorite easy-chair, but with lumbar support and climate control that make it even better.

But where the car really shines is on the road when its 3.5-liter V6 combines with an electric engine to give a net 360-hp. This car moves, and it does it even at higher speeds where many hybrids really show their shortcomings. Floor the pedal in the Infiniti M Hybrid and you’re going to feel every bit of that horsepower pressing you back into your easy-chair seat.

It still gets an estimated 27 city and 32 highway thanks to an engine and drivetrain that shut down what’s not in use, so even on the highway you’ll occasionally see your RPMs drop to zero as the electric engine takes control. You won’t feel it, though, as the transitions are seamless.

Truly, the only way you know it’s even happening on the highway is when you see those RPMs suddenly drop. If you’re stopped and resume driving, even then there’s no bump or jolt and the sound of the engine is really your only clue that the you’ve moved from electric to gas.

If you’re looking for a luxury, hybrid vehicle that doesn’t sacrifice power for fuel economy, then the 2013 Infiniti M Hybrid should be on your list.
