Automaker Qoros looks like the Real Deal

I don’t know about you, but I am liking what I am seeing from Qoros. For those of you who don’ know about this interesting automotive start-up. Qoros is a Chinese/Israeli car company with a brand-new, state of the art assembly plant in Changshu, China. That factory will have the ability to turn out up to 450,000 units within the next few years.

Audi legally opposed Qoros from using ‘Q’ in its alphanumeric names, so Qoros is sticking with ‘3’ for now.

Qoros-3-Cross-Hybrid-2[2]What I wanted to spotlight is their Cross Hybrid pictured. Think of this vehicle as a front drive, high-body hatchback with a neat addition for extra traction – the rear wheels are powered by an electric motor. The gas engine is a turbocharged, 1.2-liter, three cylinder with a second electric motor/starter generator sandwiched between the gas engine and transmission.

Slick idea and I’m a big fan of the beautifully finished exterior and interior. This is not a full production vehicle, yet – it looks showroom ready. Rare for any car company, not to mention a start-up. There’s a lot of German in the design and the restrained lines hark of solidity. The same goes for the interior, which looks like simple luxury – a bold statement indeed.

As I said, this is a very new automaker, but that doesn’t preclude them from outsourcing to some of the best in the industry. Qoros-3-Cross-Hybrid-4[2]

Qoros has outsourced to Getrag, Magna Steyr,  Benteler, Lear, TRW, Continental, BoschMicrosoft and Harman, among others. Big names with top reputations.

Keep an eye on Qoros, I know I will.

Check out this fun video from the 2013 Chicago Auto Show!

Qoros will be featuring many of their new vehicles at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
