Move over Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren… There’s a new SuperHybrid in town. Although, the Lamborghini Asterion appears to be more of a grand touring coupe, than an all-out track car.

Lamborghini unveiled the Asterion LPI910-4 concept at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It combines a 5.2L naturally aspirated V10 with three electric motors to knock out 910 horsepower. It can scoot to 62 mph in a reported 3 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph (320 kmh). Pure electric driving range is 31 miles (50 kms) at speeds of up to 78 mph (125 kmh). Naturally, the power goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Hybrid power-train with all electric mode will allow the Asterion to enter the major European and other cities that are starting to ban gasoline burning vehicles.  This is the same reason Porsche is reportedly investigating a 911 Turbo Hybrid.

“Lamborghini is always looking ahead, investing in new technologies and setting new benchmarks, delivering the unexpected,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. Mr. Winkelmann, mission accomplished.

Lamborghini set out to design a car that would reduce CO2 emissions while still providing the driver with an engaging experience behind the wheel.

The current Lambo lineup features sharp angled designs, but the Asterion talks a more curvy language. As a whole, it is a much more sensual than aggressive design.

While Lamborghini claims it could easily put this car into production, it remains to be seen if they will do so.
