Roman is joined by his friend Javier Mota to test drive and review the 2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country. This car is now the fourth offering to come from the 90 family of Volvo cars. First was, of course, the XC90 which was followed by the S90 sedan and V90 wagon. This latest model, the V90 Cross Country, wears a name familiar to the Volvo brand. For the non-initiated, the Cross Country namesake usually includes an increase in ride height, rugged black plastic cladding, and all-wheel drive. This version has received very much the same treatment, but now comes with all of the impressive design and technology that we have come to love of the 90 series cars.
The technology which is perhaps the most familiar to us is the power plant. That being a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that is both turbocharged and supercharged in order to make 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This motor sends power to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. This combination is enough to allow the V90 Cross Country to tow a respectable 3,500 lbs.
Of course this car has more than just a new engine, it features the same technology suite as all of the other 90 family vehicles. This includes the enormous touch screen display as well as a plethora of driver aids to help keep this Swedish sled both comfortable and safe.
