The 2016 Ford Focus RS has been one of the most hotly anticipated new cars of the year, and now they are finally trickling into dealerships and into owner’s garages. One such RS is now in the hands of a friend of TFLcar, and like any good RS owner should, he’s taking it racing.
In this case, it’s to the PIT Rally at the Central City Hillclimb at Central City, Colorado. The climb is on a four-lane highway, so it’s not quite as harrowing as Pike’s Peak, but it is still an eight-mile course with 23 turns and a 2,500 elevation climb.
During the event, Seth, the owner of the RS, raced in the Touring class, which is for production vehicles. In this class, the cars are sent up with two professional racers, one in front and one in the back, that keep the pace and keep things safe.
While he couldn’t wring everything out of the 2.3-liter turbo four’s 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, he did manage to hit a top speed of 135 mph.
