The 2016 Nissan Sentra was at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show to debut its new look. With a new grille, the Sentra is now in line with the redesigned Maxima and Altima and is easily recognizable as a Nissan. The hood, fenders, and boomerang-shaped headlights have also been modified. There is also one new color available for 2016, Blue Pearl.
“A major element of Nissan’s ‘Innovation that excites’ philosophy is innovative styling that continues to excite buyers throughout the entire period of ownership,” said Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president and chief creative officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “The 2016 Sentra’s new exterior adds a sense of sportiness to the refined style and proportions, as well as adding a strong connection to the Nissan sedan and crossover family.”
Inside, the new Sentra gets a new steering wheel, console, center cluster design, and an available 6-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support. Nissan promises one of the roomiest cabins in the class with 111.0 cubic feet of total interior volume, 37.4 inches of rear seat legroom, and 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space. To enhance safety, the 2016 Sentra comes available with Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Alert, which alerts drivers of oncoming traffic while backing out of a parking space.
Under the hood there’s a 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder rated at 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque mated to a 6-speed manual on the base S trim and a CVT for others. The new Sentra will be offered in six trim levels: the base S, S Xtronic, FE+ S, SV, the sport-themed SR, and the top-of-the-line SL. With that may to choose from, interested buyers should be able to find something that fits their budget and preferences… although we’ll leave it you to decipher what all those initials stand for. Starting price for a base S model comes in at $17,605 including destination, while other pricing has yet to be released. Look for the 2016 Sentra to be available by the end of 2015.
