The 2014 Denver Auto Show is about to open its doors to the public this afternoon, April 9th at 5:00pm. And the 2014 Lexus IS sedan has claimed the 2014 Rocky Mountain Car of the Year award, announced at the annual Charity Preview Party.
The all-new Lexus IS can be have with a choice of two V6 engines and available all wheel drive. The base engine is the 2.5-liter V6 with 204 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. The high end motor is the smooth 3.5-liter V6 with 306 hp and 277 lb-ft. Both motors send power to either the rear wheel or all four via a 6-speed automatic. The redesigned Lexus IS can be considered as a true competitor in the performance luxury sedan segment, as it goes up against German, American, and other Japanese rivals.
If sporty performance is your goal, there is the F Sport model that does not add extra power, but provides enhanced suspension, steering, and appearance to take it up a notch.
Journalist member of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) voted the Lexus to the number one spot over the other two finalists: 2014 Chevrolet Impala and the 2014 Mazda3. All three of the these contenders are all-new for 2014 and have many outstanding features. However, the Lexus rose to the top due to exceptional build quality, features, and available all-wheel-drive.
