The 2013 Ford Escape goes global with new European inspired design

The 2013 Ford Escape is no longer your father’s old Escape. The new 2013 model now has a much more European design feel as it will replace the old Escape in North America and the Kuga in Europe.

The 2013 Ford Escape will get a big heaping of Ford’s Ecoboost turbo power with an optional and all-new 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that produces 173 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.

However the 2013 Escape will also be available with a top shelf 2.0-liter EcoBoost that cranks out 237 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque, and even a non turbo 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, which pumps out 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque.

In America the new Escape will come only with a six speed automatic mated to any of the three engine choices however you can purchase the car in both a front or all-wheel-drive layout.

If the 2013 Ford Escape looks familiar to you that’s because it uses the same design language as the new Ford Focus.

No more boxy styling and square lines instead the Escape features a more of a “kinetic” perhaps “rugged” look. At least that’s the word Ford uses to describe the new style of the Escape.

Ford says the 2013 Escape is capable of towing up to 3500 pounds and (depending on the engine) is up to five miles per gallon more efficient than the out going model.

Ruth Pauli, Chief Engineer for Color and Materials, says: “The interior design of the all-new Escape is modern and sophisticated. It captures the expressive design and enhanced functionality of the vehicle.”
