Cadillac’s New Take on Drive In Movies at the 2011 Vail Film Festival

Cadillac is presenting the 2011 Vail Film Festival and is doing something more novel than simply throwing their beefy moniker around.

Among the 67 films from all corners of the globe (11 full length feature films along with 56 shorts, documentaries, animated, student and adventure films) nearly every genre is explored between March 31st and April 3rd. As TFLCar.com is based in Colorado, we are naturally proud of this event.

Now, there’s more to be proud of: “The 2011 Festival will donate 5% of the overall ticket sales to the American Red Cross for earthquake and tsunami recovery efforts in Japan, and an additional 5% to Angelight Films, a 501(c) (3) non-profit production company that gives chronically ill children the opportunity to express themselves in their own short film.” – – PR Newswire

Cadillac has taken this opportunity to try something intimate, novel and rather brilliant while maintaining the spirit of the event. Cadillac created a new venue called the “Cadillac Short Series” where people can watch short films from inside a Cadillac. A 2011 Cadillac Escalade, 2011 CTS Wagon and a 2011 SRX will be parked at the Solaris Plaza; visitors will be able to cozy up inside and get rather private screenings while sitting in Cadillac comfort.

Of course, there are many other features to this film event worth noting, such as the 48 hour film contest where each team is given a new Olympus PEN® camera and must plan, shoot, edit and present a short film. The winner gets lots of swag (prizes), loot, passes and a meet-&-greet with a Hollywood producer. Not too shabby.

Being a car-biased website, we like the Cadillac idea and wish we had come up with it. I guess that’s why they get the bog bucks. Anyway, to learn more about the 2011 Vail Film Festival, click (HERE).

Wait till the end of this Mashed up Match up to see what happens to Roman’s camera!
