Video: Mentos Rocket Car runs on Coke Zero and makes a big zero calorie mess

Do you remember the guys behind the Mentos/Coke geysers a few years ago.

We'll they are back and this time they have a big time Hollywood director and much bigger budget. In fact their budget is has now stretched to be able to accommodate the rental of an airplane hanger for their latest adventure: A Mentos and Coke powered Rocket Car.

The video below was directed by Rob Cohen of "The Fast and the Furious" and features a 108 two-liter bottles of Coke Zero and 648 Mentos tablets, and of course a rocket car to harness all the Mentos and calorie free coke mess.

Double Trouble For Checa Hands Biaggi Victory

Italian Max Biaggi ( Alitalia Aprilia RSV)  leads the 2010 Hannspree World Superbike Championship after winning the double at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah this weekend. In both races Biaggi inherited the lead from Spaniard Carlos Checa, when the Spaniards’ Althea Ducati ground to halt with electronic issues. One retirement was a tough call, but two DNF’s in one day was a nightmare for a stunned Checa after he had built a comfortable lead in both races!

Combined the 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports and the Cadillac CTS-V have 1177 horse power.

The Bentley has a 6.0L W-12 with two turbochargers rated at 621 HP and all wheel drive, but it weighs almost 5000 pounds.

The Cadillac CTS-V has a 6.2L V8 with a supercharger rated at 556 HP, rear wheel drive, but it weights about 700 pounds less.

Not to mention that the Bentley cost about $200,000 more than the Cadillac.

So which one is faster in a straight line?

Dario Franchitti wins Indianapolis 500 as dramatic accident unfolds on final lap

Dario Franchitti has won his second Indianapolis 500 beating Dan Weldon who finished second for a second year in a row.

Franchitti's win means that Chip Ganassi has become the first car owner to win both the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 in the same year.

Helio Castroneves was in the hunt to become the fourth driver to win four victories at the brickyard until he stalled coming out of a pit lane on the 145th lap of the Indy 500 race.

"Up until 10 laps to go I was pretty relaxed and than all hell broke loose," Franchitti said after the race."

So how do you suppose you drive a brand new $286,845 Bentley Continental Supersports 600 miles when the manufacturer imposes a strict 200 mile limit?

Drive is backwards for 200 miles of course.

OK, so we kid Bentley…we would never try anything as childish as driving a 600 plus HP W12 AWD supepcar backwards just to roll back the odometer so we could put on a few hundred more miles on the car.

Let them drive electric cars: Daimler and Chinese automaker BYD partner in new JV

And chances are that you probably don't know Chinese automaker BYD which (BTW) stands for Build Your Dreams.

The German and Asian company today announced a 50/50 joint venture partnership to build and sell electric cars in Asia.

The companies said they will invest 600 million yuan ($87.9 million USD) to develop electric cars for the Chinese market.

So what does each company bring to the table?

Daimler according to the press release brings "know-how in electric vehicle
architecture and safety" to the venture.
