Ford celebrates six decades of Mustang production with some expanded options for the anniversary package.
Among all the potential news of completely new and whacky Mustang models like a four-door sedan or an off-roader. Ford is still putting some time and attention into the core model itself. Specifically, the automaker recently announced a couple additions to the 60th Annivesary Edition package, which it initially debuted back in April. More throwback touches are coming into the mix, including a Brittany Blue color option and more special gauges for the digital cluster.
Brittany Blue, for its part, is similar to a hue that originally launched in the 1967 Mustang, and Ford will only offer the color this time around in a small batch. Buyers who opt for this color will only be able to get the fastback body with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Each Brittany Blue 60th Anniversary model further gets the 401A equipment package, a 12-speaker B&O sound system, a Space Gray interior, active valve exhaust and a 3.55 limited-slip rear axle as standard equipment. Like before, though, the 60th Anniversary Package is still also available in Wimbledon White, Race Red and Vapor Blue, and you can get those colors in fastback or convertible form.
If you’re feeling a little more “New Edge” with your Mustang, there’s yet another digital cluster option available as a software update. The new option makes the new S650’s gauges look like the Mustang SVT Cobra, which initially sold between the 1999 and 2001 model years, during the updated fourth-generation, where it was known as the “SN-99” or part of Ford’s New Edge design language. Ford is dropping this instrument cluster for all current-gen owners, not just those who buy into the 60th Anniversary Package.
For those who want it, the Brittany Blue 60th Anniversary model will only be available for seven days, between August 21 and August 28. Pricing for that specific option starts at $65,245. Registrations of interest to receive an email by August 21 close Monday, so you’ll have to pull the trigger right now to get a shot. You can sign up here.
At any rate, the Brittany Blue option will be a rare one. When Ford originally announced the 60th Anniversary Package, it said it only only build 1,965 examples. Now, it’s unclear exactly how many of those will be Brittany Blue, as opposed to the existing color options.
