When going off road can you expect damage to your vehicle? And how does the new Nissan Armada do in those conditions?
TFL’s Roman Mica and Andre Smirnov wanted to find out recently when test driving the Ford Raptor and the Nissan Armada.
Roman recently took the Raptor on Webster Pass, which runs from Keystone, Colorado to US 285, to see how it would do on that pass. The website Trail Damage gave that pass a four out of 10, which means that it’s not too challenging of a course.
However, at one point there is a 2,000 foot drop and a narrow section the Raptor had to traverse.
Andre was test driving the 2017 Nissan Armada Platinum 4×4, which is the luxury version of Nissan’s latest SUV. To test its off-road capabilities, Andre said he’s taking it to Gold Mine Hill in Colorado. Nissan has indicated that even the luxury model of the Armada can do well off road.
The model Andre tested sells for about $61,000, has a 5.6 liter V8, has 390 horsepower and is rated at 8,500 pounds for towing.
Find out what the Raptor encountered and what issues Andre may have had with the Armada’s towing capabilities by watching the complete TFL behind the scenes video above.
