Jaguar finally dove into the burgeoning performance crossover segment with the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, the company’s first SUV.
TFLcar’s Roman Mica spoke to Nathan Hoyt, product communications manager for Jaguar Land Rover North America, to learn everything there is to know about the latest Jag.
Hoyt said that the company decided to get into the performance SUV market so they can increase their market reach. Along with the XE sedan, Jaguar can triple their market potential. The F-Pace was already best seller before it was released with all of the pre-orders.
The F-Pace is based on the same platform as the XE and the F-Type, and it has similar design language from the F-Type. The rear haunches and taillights come right from the F-Type’s design language, and the whole car is designed to match the other family members so it could be instantly recognizable as a Jaguar.
The F-Pace comes with either a 2.o-liter turbocharged diesel engine or a 3.5-liter supercharged V-6, the latter being available with either 340 or 380 horsepower.
The all wheel drive system is normally rear biased, with 90 percent of the power being sent to the rear wheels. The system can, if needed, send up to 90 percent of the power to the front wheels.
