The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is here, and TFLcar’s Roman Mica was in Detroit to provide complete coverage of the event.
With this unveiling, TFLcar introduced the TFL Total Download, providing as much information as possible about the new Camaro, including videos directly from the event. The videos feature sneak peeks, fan vehicles and classics leading up to the unveiling, and a quick track test of the new car.
The 2016 Camaro is lighter and smaller than the outgoing model and features updated styling that is more modern yet still looks like a Camaro. Inside, the 2016 Camaro has been completely redesigned with a large center screen and a configurable instrument cluster.
The new car gets new powertrains, as well. A first for the Camaro is a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with 90 percent of peak torque available as low as 2,100 rpm. This engine also gets a GM-estimated 30 mpg on the highway.
The 3.6-liter V6 is also new and makes 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. It has what GM calls Active Fuel Management, which deactivates two cylinders at low throttle to increase efficiency.
No Camaro would be complete without a small-block V8, and for 2016, it gets the 6.2-liter LT1 engine first introduced in the Corvette Stingray. The LT1 makes 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
All engines are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
