Is this Scion iM Concept LA Auto Show Debut more than a Toyota Corolla Wagon?

The Scion iM Concept debuted at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show amid a hipster, Generation X (and Y), bearded-cool, young-entrepreneurial plethora of imagery. All this amid hip-hop, beat-box, dub-step etc. It’s pandering, sure – but the reality is: if you’re going to sell a small wagon (hatchback = wagon) you need to tart it up, and that’s exactly what Scion did.scion_im_concept_rear
No details were given regarding anything about the Scion iM Concept except that it was an external design study (the Scion folk freaked when a young journalist found an open door and began shooting the interior). The other detail is that the Scion iM Concept will be followed by a production debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

The Toyota Auris is the basis for the Scion iM Concept – and that’s a good thing. It’s a small hatchback overseas that’s lauded for reliability and practicality. The Scion iM Concept has massive tires and wheels, giving it a 400 horsepower look. I sincerely doubt it. It looks mean and beefy, but I’m thinking the production version will produce a bit less. Maybe 140 hp like the current Toyota Corolla?

One more thing; Toyota/Scion announced that they will introduce another Scion along with the production debut of the Scion iM. Interesting – no?

Speaking of prototypes (concepts) at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show…
