The 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are undeniably fun cars to drive, and now they’ve also been proven undeniably safe by earning a 2014 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS).
In order to earn this rating, the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI achieved a Good rating in each of the Institute’s crashworthiness tests including the small overlap front test. This is the first time the IIHS has rated the WRX and WRX STI and it’s a significant moment for Subaru as the cars were completely redesigned for the 2015 model year.
This gives Subaru six models that have earned 2014 safety awards from the IIHS. Three have earned the Top Safety Pick rating and three have earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating. The highest rated cars in the Subaru lineup include the Legacy and Outback models when equipped with optional EyeSight. That tally earns Subaru the honor of having more 2014 IIHS Top Safety Picks than any other brand.
