So the new 2014 MINI Hardtop grows a bit in size and has new styling inside and out. However, the biggest news lies under the hood. The base 2014 MINI Cooper gets a new 3-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine with 134 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. This is 13 horsepower more and staggering 48 lb-ft of fun inducing torque more than the current car. MINI says the new base Cooper gets to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds, which is a whole second faster than before. We love forced induction!
The 2014 MINI Cooper S also get more power: 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. This is a healthy 30 lb-ft increase, which generates a 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds. This is just a wink quicker than the current Cooper S. Both models still offer manual transmissions. Thank you MINI for that!
