“Ten street artists were painting, spraying and designing a snow-white Volvo S60 during a five day period. All took place in front of a white dropback canvas at Zurich main railway station. During this live art happening, a high-end camera shot pictures every 10th second. The result is now published on YouTube.” – – Volvo News
This is, for lack of a better term, an urban exhibition that’s good PR for Volvo. I’m not too keen on most of the art, but it’s a mighty good way to bring a youthful energy so desperately desired from automakers. While the 10 artist were creating this urban art, over 35,000 people swung by the Zurich train station to take a peek.
Only one Volvo S60 was used and it was constantly repainted. During the video, which is one frame shot every 10-seconds over five days, you can see its birth and rebirth representing each artist. Volvo is being crafty about their PR campaigns and from what I know, the S60 is the right car to turn over the next page of this feisty little company.
I like the idea of the white car against the white backdrop. It kind of makes me wonder why “hip” automakers (like Scion and Mini) didn’t think of it. Good show Volvo.
