Through the years soccer moms all over the world ensured that minivans have a certain stigma. A melancholy utility people mover, a minivan was rarely thought of as a sporty vehicle with a hint of an adventurous lifestyle for the whole family. That was true until now! The brand new 2014 Fiat 500L Trekking might just change the ideas of what a minivan can do and how it should be viewed.
The 500L Trekking is a “mini” minivan that could drive over a curb with ease or take a family and their gear off the beaten path. Two upgrades that really stand out are a higher ground clearance and a differential that is electronically controlled to improve traction in adverse conditions. Additionally, there are several cosmetic and interior changes to complete the package. One of interest is a Beats 520 watt Hi-Fi audio sound system, which is a first for the European market.
This minivan is smaller then most modern competitors such as the Dodge Caravan or Toyota Sienna. On the upside, a huge advantage of the 500L is its economic fuel mileage, which is becoming a priority for many shoppers. Overall, this model would be a great match for an eco-minded family with an active lifestyle.
The 2014 Fiat 500L Trekking goes on sale in Europe this summer. There is no official word on availability timing for the North American market, but we should see it sometime after the European debut. More information including the starting price, release date and the final list of options on the 500L Trekking should be revealed soon.
