Busted: Chrysler assembly plant workers caught drinking and smoking on video over lunch again

Chrysler

As you may recall from THIS story it was just about 10 months ago that a Detroit Fox news TV station busted a group of Chrysler employees partying, smoking weed, and drinking over their lunch break.

In total 13 Chrysler employees were fired over the incident and the company suffered a significant public relations black eye over the fallout.

Today it’s the same story but a different assembly plant. This time the same Detroit Fox News station went to the parking lot of the local UAW hall near the Jefferson North Plant in Detroit at busted more Chrysler workers drinking and smoking on their lunch break, and even before their shift.

The new station says it got the news tip from other workers at the Chrysler plant who were afraid of working with drunk and unsafe employees.

Scott Garberding, the automaker’s Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, says, “The employees that we identify, as soon as we understand who they are, will be suspended indefinitely without pay and anybody else involved will be dealt with swiftly. It’s very frustrating to us, we take it very seriously.”

2012 Scion iQ to start at $15,995…batteries not included

IMG_1276

Scion has just announced the very tiny 2012 iQ will start at $15,995.

The smallest Scion will be launched in phases around the U.S. with the West Coast getting the car first and the Midwest last.

BTW: Why is it that the Midwest is always left out in the cold on these phased car intros? Could it be the cold, or don't car makers believe that people in cities like Chicago have an interest in their newest products.

Review: ‘Utility’ could be the 2011 Subaru Forester’s middle name

2011-Subaru-Forester-Front-Angle-View

I recently was in the left front seat of an older Subaru Forester at highways speeds—but   with no steering wheel in front of me. Not to worry. I was in Australia, where the steering wheel is on the right side and vehicles are driven in the left lane. My daughter was at the wheel.

I recently tested a 2011 Forester four-door small SUV (or “crossover,” if you will) after returning to America. This third-generation Forester, which was new for 2009, is appreciably larger in every dimension than the last generation model, with a roomier back seat. It’s styling is clean, but won’t turn heads. There are only minor trim changes for 2011.

The new Forester is no more powerful than the 2010 model, despite a refined base engine, but provides good acceleration in town and on highways. Its 2.5-liter, 170-horsepower four-cylinder is put in most models, but it’s also sold with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which kicks out 224 horsepower.

First Look: the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 SEL is a pleasant if mildly entertaining driving experience

Having a car like the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 SEL is a pleasant if mildly entertaining experience. It’s fairly quick and handles delightfully when pushed. My car’s 170 horsepower 2.5-liter, DOHC, 20-valve inline-5, makes an impressive 177 lbs feet of torque which can come in handy.

Old versus new Luxury video review: 2011 Cadillac Escalade vs. the Lexus CT200h mashup review

Tfllex

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV Premium is one of the biggest cars you can buy in America.

It certainly represents old school luxury with 22 inch wheel, 5 TV screens and two remote controls not to mention heated and cooled seats and cup holders.

The new 2011 Lexus CT200h is small, frugal and luxurious.

It gets great gas mileage and represents new luxury with a Lexus hybrid drive that combines both a gas engine and an electric motor.

So which one of these cars is the future of luxury transportation? Check out the video below and find out.
