Genesis Confirms the GV60 Magma Will Go Into Production In 2025

Genesis is kicking off its performance sub-brand with this

The upcoming 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma doesn’t just look hot — it packs some serious power.

Back in March, Genesis unveiled the first model in its new sub-brand of hot electric cars, calling it the GV60 ‘Magma’. The automaker said it would definitely put the concept model into production down the road, but today we have a clearer picture on how that’s going to play out. In fact, Thursday’s announcement during the Goodwood Festival of Speed confirmed the first examples of the production-spec GV60 Magma would roll out to Korean buyers in the third quarter of 2025.

From there, Genesis plans to expand the launch to European buyers by the end of next year. We’ll have to wait a little while for the company’s new hot EV to hit U.S. dealers, though that should happen sometime in the first few months of 2026.

As the performance variant of Genesis’ entry-level GV60, the Magma will get quite a few upgrades to handle the extra power. Though it still rides on the same E-GMP platform, we expect chassis improvements as well as a brake setup unique to this model. It also gets a widened body, lowered ride height and big rear wing on the spoiler, just in case the bright orange paint doesn’t clue you into the fact that this car is gunning for other performance-minded EVs.

Underneath, the 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma should pack a similar dual-motor setup to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Exact specs are still forthcoming, but as the Ioniq 5 N already puts out 641 horsepower, you can reasonably assume the GV60 will manage at least that much, if not more. 0-60 times should also land somewhere in the 3-second range, again based on what we’ve seen with its Hyundai counterpart.

Now that there’s a roadmap in place, we should know more details from the Korean launch later this year. There may still be some minor changes between each market the car launches in, but history suggests we’ll have a pretty good idea what to expect here in the States once the GV60 Magma hits the scene in South Korean and European markets.
