For well over $300,000, you’d expect the Mustang GTD to have some party tricks. And it does.
When you’re talking about a performance car with pushrod-actuated suspension, you know it’s definitely something special. The $300,000-plus 2025 Ford Mustang GTD makes use of such a suspension setup with Multimatic spool valve shock absorbers, but Ford emphasized another angle of all that engineering this week: A window so you can actually see that suspension in action.
“The rear suspension is designed for purpose, but it’s also just a beautiful thing to look at,” said Mustang GTD marketing manager Jim Owens. “It would have been a shame for us to hide it away never to be seen.” Now, with the suspension window — as marketing goes, Ford definitely took a direct approach there — the passenger will be able to watch the action through a 24-by-10-inch polycarbonate panel.
As far as the Multimatic setup’s actual capability, Ford mentions the race car technology with the spool valve dampers, which can adjust from their softest setting to their firmest in 15 milliseconds. That allows the car to constantly adapt to the road surface and maximize tire contact, improving the car’s agility and the driver’s confidence to push this particular Mustang harder than your typical pony car.
While the suspension window is admittedly more about showing off than actual performance, we should see more of what the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is all about as it makes its appearance at major racing events throughout the year’s calendar, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans next month, the 24 Hours of Spa and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
