Many readers may not be aware, but TFL’s own Roman Mica was actually born in the Czech Republic. Recently, he and his son, Tommy, got a chance to go back to his homeland and, as a bonus, drive the all-new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan with a diesel engine.
Now, the Tiguan was just launched at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but the one here is one we won’t get. Because of the company’s diesel emissions scandal and its aftermath, they will no longer sell diesel-engined vehicles in the United States.
This Tiguan’s engine is the VW 2.0-liter TDI engine, and in this car it was mated to the 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Although we won’t get the engine, the rest of the car is pretty much what we will get in the States. It has the new VW styling language and, in typical German fashion, has a rather plain and understated, yet somehow still elegant, interior.
Check out the full TFLcar video above to hear how Roman and Tommy liked the new Tiguan, and also ride with them as they visit the bone church in Prague, which is decorated with the bones of those who died during the plague.
