Is the Lexus LX 570 SUV an excellent luxry off road vehicle or is it just a fancy Toyota Land Cruiser with a Lexus badge?
TFL’s Nathan Alden and Brian Waring set out to answer that question recently as they took the 2016 Lexus LX for a spin in the Colorado Mountains.
The LX 570 under the hood is similar to a Toyota Land Cruiser. The trim level Nathan and Brian tested would cost a buyer almost $100,000, and came equipped with a 5.7-liter engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle produces 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque.
For that price, buyers could expect reliability, comfort and prestige with the Lexus name. As tested, the LX 570 wouldn’t fare well off road with the 21-inch tires and wheels that it came equipped with by the manufacturer. However, Nathan and Brian said the LX 570 would definitely make a great off road vehicle with some modifications to the tires and wheels.
One of the main draws of the LX is its state-of-the-art four-wheel drive system. Toyota, which manufactures the Lexus brand, also indicated that the vehicle they tested can go from zero to 60 in 7.3 seconds.
But is the LX 570 worth spending almost $100,000, or is it just a fancy Toyota Land Cruiser? Find out by watching the complete TFL video above.
