There will be an upcoming episode of TFL’s Leaderboard series, Hot or Not, featuring these two cars, but since it’s Friday we’d like to give you a little reward for all the hard work you put in this week. In the video above, you can watch Roman drag race a professional driver in a Ford Mustang GT versus Chevy Camaro SS all-American throwdown.
It’s not everyday we get two cars that compete head to head with each other so this is a special treat. The 2016 Mustang GT has a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that pumps out 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The as-tested price for the ‘Stang is $42,275 including $4,980 worth of options and $900 for destination. This car has launch control so that might give Roman the edge.
TFL’s professional driver, Paul, chose the 2016 Camaro SS. Its 6.2-liter V8 whomps the Mustang’s power and torque figures with 455 each. It also has a 6-speed manual transmission. The Monroney (window sticker) for the Chevy reads $45,910 all-in. That includes $3,615 in options and $995 for delivery.
So the Mustang wins the price war, the Camaro wins the power and torque war, but which one can actually put down its power more efficiently in a short drag race? Check out the video to find out.
