The crossover market is hot and spans many segments from the sub-compact to the full-sizers you see here. The 2016 Honda Pilot is the latest entry and it looks to steal market share from the competition and grow further. Who are the competitors? They are many, but the top three are the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, and the Chevy Traverse. Roman Mica got a chance to drive all of these and the Nissan Pathfinder back-to-back with the Honda Pilot. So how do they compare?
The video provides a good comparison as these three-row crossovers are closely matched. They have about the same power, efficiency, and features. However, the 2016 Honda Pilot pushes the segment to new heights. Its 3.5L V6 now produces 280 horsepower, while also getting 22 MPG combined. These are impressive numbers for such a big vehicle. The new Pilot grows slightly in size for even more interior space.
The 2016 Pilot starts at $29,995 for the two-wheel-drive model with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The top of the line Elite model with navigation will go for $46,420. These prices do not include the $880 destination charge.
The redesigned Pilot will go sale this summer, just several short months away.
