The redesigned 2015 Toyota Camry is less than a month away from going to the dealerships. Could this model turn-over be a contributing factor as to why Camry lost it’s number one spot in monthly sales in August 2014? However it did not just lose the monthly lead, it got crushed by the Honda Accord. Honda’s premier sedan sold a staggering 51,075 units in August, grew by 32.5% over August of last year, and passed the Camry by 7,032 cars. However, the Camry still holds a comfortable lead in year-to-date (YTD) sales. TFLcar reached out to Honda for more comments on the Accord sales. We will update you as soon as we know.
In other news, most of the models across the industry had a great month of August. These include the Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda6, and the Subaru Legacy. The redesigned 2015 Sonata is off to a great start with 24.7% monthly growth. Mazda6 is still going very strong with a 32.5% increase and best YTD growth. The redesigned 2015 Subaru Legacy started hitting the dealerships and already got 51.4% monthly improvement and hopped out of last spot and over Mazda6 in August sales.
The redesigned 2015 Chrysler 200 is also at the dealerships and it’s picking up steam with a 7.0% improvement. The Chrysler passed the VW Passat for the 8th spot for the month. The Chevy Malibu had a challenging month, but was still able to pass the Kia Optima for 6th place.
The industry and this segment are hotter than hot. Many competitors are bringing all-new models to the market at the same time for a chance to find more consumers. Stay tuned as TFLcar brings you more matchup from this segment (2015 Chrysler 200 vs. 2015 Subaru Legacy is coming soon).
