The ‘Launch Edition’ of the Alfa Romeo 4C was presented to the world at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. Alfa Romeo 4C will make a dynamic debut at this year’s prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, this July.
Alfa Romeo 4C is a rear wheel drive, mid-engined sports car. That engine will be an all-aluminum, direct-injection, 240 hp turbocharged, four-cylinder engine, developing 258 lbs-feet of torque. The powertrain will render a top speed in excess of 155 mph, a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds and 1.1 of lateral g on corners. Truly impressive numbers, indeed. It’s thanks to the launch Control and Alfa’s TCT transmission.
The company is proud of achieving its two design goals: weight-saving and handling. Evident in the Pirelli P Zeros fitted and the inboard MacPherson struts attached, this is a purpose-built sports car.
Reminiscent of the much-heralded Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale (Nathan’s favorite car off all time) and made in Italy, the Alfa 4C represents the true essence of a sports car and Alfa’s much-delayed return to the U.S. (hopefully). With the 4C’s styling, Alfa kept faithful to the concept car which drew critical acclaim when it debuted in Geneva in 2011.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a celebration of automotive power and engineering – two virtues that Alfa has staked its racing and road car reputation on. Future driving opportunities will determine whether that reputation remains intact.
