2014 Honda Civic Coupe EX-L And Its Little Side View Camera [First Impression]

Civic-Side-Camera

Looks like mirrors aren’t enough these days. The 2014 Honda Civic Coupe EX-L with Navigation gets a swank little camera in its right side view mirror. Dubbed Honda LaneWatch, it is activated every time you signal right. The video is displayed on the 7″ touchscreen and Honda claims it gives you four times the view than just using the side mirror alone.

Or you could, you know, turn your head and look. Your choice.

The camera can be activated manually and it’s only on the right side. I’m not one for unnecessary tech in a car, and in a relatively small car like the coupe the camera seems a bit overkill. I’ve only driven the Civic for one day and maybe I’ll grow to love it, but at the moment it just seems a little superfluous.
