Team Indiana Joans are happy to announce their partnership with Resqme for the 2014 Rallye Aicha des Gazelles. The Gazelle Rally, a nine day, all female off-road rally through the harsh desert of Morocco, the gateway to the Sahara Desert, is known as one of the toughest motorsports events in the world. GPS is not allowed and all navigation is done with a compass and an old map. Points are awarded for shortest distance between checkpoints, not fastest time.
The Gazelle Rally takes place March 14-29 2014, and will bring together nearly 200 teams from 33 countries. 25% of participants rally fees go to the Heart of Gazelles, providing educational, medical, and humanitarian assistance to those in the most remote parts of Morocco.
“Thanks to fundraising and a silent sponsor, we had enough money to pay our rally fees, but the truck rental was still out of reach,” says driver Emme Hall. “Resqme literally did rescue us with this partnership. Without their help we would not be going to the rally.”
Resqme is a handheld, ready to use rescue tool. Originally designed for emergency personnel, Resqme is a necessity for any driver. This combination window-breaker and seat belt cutter is small and lightweight, yet still powerful. In the event of an emergency and possible vehicle entrapment, the Resqme tool holds a sharp blade to cut a jammed seatbelt and a spring-loaded spike to shatter the car window. You can carry it on your keys so it is always within reach, making it an emergency tool ideal for the safety of any driver.
“We are so excited and proud to be working with Indiana Joans and supporting them on their adventure at the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles,” says Laurent Colasse, president of Resqme. “We are committed to safety but also committed to the empowerment of women. Partnering with Emme and Sabrina was a natural fit.”
Indiana Joans will be running number 183 on a 2010 Isuzu DMax. In addition to the Resqme logos, the team will cover their truck with butterflies, each dedicated to a breast cancer survivor, pre-vivor, fighter, or angel.
“My mother is a breast cancer survivor,” says navigator Sabrina Howells. “We are so pleased to honor these women who have struggled with breast cancer by bringing them with us on this epic adventure. Resqme donates a portion of sales from their pink and fuchsia tools to cancer research. We are proud to be working with a company that shares our values and goals.”
The Indiana Joans will be participating in the Wave Media Relay while at the Rally. This is a special mini-challenge within the rally with its own ranking. By partnering with TFLCar, the Indiana Joans will have a chance to win 15000 Euros for their charity, FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered. They will be blogging back to TFLCar as much as they can.
