It hasn’t officially broken cover yet, but this is what the upcoming Ford Mach E will probably look like. These particular renderings were posted to the Mach E Forums today. The reveal is coming November 17. However, for those who just can’t wait, here it (sort of) is.
These renderings show all the details we’ve seen in prototypes. That signature Mustang-like front end, some character lines along the doors, a coupe-like sloping roofline, and a tapered off rear end, which carry the tri-bar LED taillights we’ve all seen on the Mustang. It may just look like a four-door Mustang on stilts to some, but I think it looks pretty good, as crossovers go.
One point of contention with this look, though, is that pony badge out front. Yes, this crossover is “inspired” by the Mustang, but purists don’t necessarily want that emblem signifying what is, by its nature, more of a people hauler. A muscle car this isn’t, so it should have a Blue Oval out front, they say.
We’ll reserve our full judgments until we see the Ford Mach E in person, of course. This gives us a much better idea of how Ford’s electric crossover will look, but what’s lurking underneath remains a mystery. It will supposedly launch with up to 300 miles of range, which would put it in Tesla territory. Following Tesla’s model, it may also have a range of battery and performance options. Stay tuned and find out with us on November 17 at the LA Auto Show!
