Mercedes-Benz Previews the Electric GLC’s Interior, And I’ll Bet You Can Guess What’s Front and Center

Yep, it's more screen!

In several ways, the next electric Mercedes-Benz GLC isn’t going to be the brand’s typical SUV.

If you’ve been car shopping over the past couple years, you’ll undoubtedly notice a growing trend, particularly among EVs: screen, screen and more screen. Traditional gauges are replaced by a display, the infotainment display gets larger and larger, and let’s give the passenger their own screen real estate, too! Why not? That trend is alive and well in the coming Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV, as the automaker shows off a revamped interior with — you guessed it — acres of display space.

Okay, maybe not acres, but you do get 39.1 inches in the form of one, continuous, dashboard-spanning “Hyperscreen” display. Given Mercedes’ last Hyperscreen setup spanning a 56-inch panel (albeit with three separate screen units), that’s still a heckuva lot of screen for a compact SUV. Mercedes says in its teaser that the display has more than 1,000 individual LEDs and separate dimming zones, so you won’t necessarily have to have the whole thing lit up like Times Square at all times. That sounds like a pretty good idea when you’re driving at night.

Beyond the obvious centerpiece, Mercedes shows a few detailed elements of the new GLC EV’s design. In broad strokes, you still get leather pretty much everywhere throughout the interior, the steering wheel looks pretty standard, and you get a pair of cupholders in the raised center console as well as optional dual wireless charging pads. The tech, the interior aesthetic and the display is meant to come together and create what Mercedes calls “a new and captivating immersive interior experience.”

For now, that’s the latest information we have on the electric GLC-Class. The automaker did take the effort to nod to its last GLC teaser, showing the optional pixelated, backlit grille design coming up with this electric model.

There’s a reason we’re seeing more about the electric GLC now, though — its full debut is just around the corner. To that end, we’ll know much more about it (and hopefully some technical specs) on September 7, when the car makes its full debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich, Germany.

While we wait, Jen did have an opportunity to check out the other Mercedes-Benz GLC. In this case, we’re looking at the GLC350e plug-in hybrid:
