By and large, two words you’re going to see from here on out are “air suspension”. The Volvo XC90 has air suspension available, and as such it has a maximum 10.5 inches of ground clearance. Sure, it’s no mud-plugging off-roader (like another SUV coming up on this list), but it’s still good to have that clearance in the snow. Prices for the Volvo XC90 start at $47,700 before destination charges.
All-wheel drive models get the option of three powertrains. the base model T5 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Step up to the T6 and you get a supercharger as well, increasing power to 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the top-spec T8 adds electrification to the equation. Power tops out at 400 horsepower and 416 lb-ft of torque. All XC90s come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
