Nissan introduced a hybrid version of its Murano SUV at Auto Shanghai 2015, but gave no word on whether it would be coming to the U.S.

The Murano Hybrid is powered by the same system as the Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 Hybrids. Named the QR25DER, the powertrain pairs a supercharged, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor.

The system uses Nissan’s Intelligent Dual Clutch System, which can combine both engines or completely separate the gasoline engine from the drivetrain when necessary, like during regenerative charging or electric-only operation.

The 2015 Murano was significantly redesigned inside and out.

The hybrid will share the same exterior styling as the gasoline-only version, which is all-new for 2015.

Nissan said the Murano Hybrid will go on sale in China in the summer. The company gave no indication if the hybrid-powered SUV will be sold in North America. Considering the availability of the Lexus RX Hybrid and other premium electric-gasoline crossovers, the idea of a Murano Hybrid is not that farfetched.
