208mph: World’s fastest electric car unveiled

It was only a matter of time before an electric super car was launched that could top 200mph.

And today's that day.

Shelby Supercars unveiled the Ultimate Aero EV which is based on their current gas power super car the Ultimate Aero.

The company says Ultimate Aero EV can accelerate to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds and is powered by a twin electric motor system, which produces a massive 1,000 horse power and 800lb-ft of torque.

Shelby claims the car can be recharged in about 10 minutes and go between 150 to 200 miles on a charge.

According to the Mailonline.com, "A Shelby Supercars spokesman said: 'Having the world's fastest production car we decided the Ultimate Aero to be the perfect high visibility outlet to demonstrate our new green power train.

The Ultimate Aero EV will prove that electric-powered vehicles will not only match but also provide more overall performance than internal combustion cars."

Unlike the Tesla Roadster, which produces 250 horsepower, the Ultimate Aero EV is not yet available but the company says it will have a production ready car by June of this year.
