The North American market is still patiently waiting for the release of the seventh generation VW Golf and GTI. Folks across the pond are already enjoying “Der neue Golf”, while we are still many many months away from being able to buy one. Now, Volkswagen continues to tease us with the next generation of the Golf Wagon. These images were leaked just ahead of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show which kicks off tomorrow.
Some call this car the Golf Wagon, some – Golf Estate, and we hope to call it the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen eventually. All of the details about this Golf Wagon will be released a little later, but for now we know that it shares the MQB platform with the Golf/GTI Mk7. It means that they will share the engine/transmission options as well as the interior design. No interior shots are yet available, but it does look very roomy back there. The current SportWagen is very popular in United Stated in the TDI trim. I hope VW brings this next generation wagon to North America with a choice of power plants (including the diesel). While I am making a wish list, I will also ask for a 4Motion all wheel drive!
Here is a fun TFLcar review of the 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid. Perhaps, the next SportWagen will have a Hybrid drive-train as well?
