The ZDX may have just gone on sale, but Acura isn’t stopping there.

Monterey Car Week is right around the corner, and just like every year, we’ll see some amazing sheet metal descend on Pebble Beach. One such creation is Acura’s “next generation” performance concept, which will be based on the automaker’s new and dedicated EV platform. We don’t know exactly what the company has up its sleeve, but it did tease this rendering in advance of the actual reveal in the coming days.

“A segment defying sport utility vehicle” is what Acura is hyping up here, further stating that “the dynamically styled concept previews the performance brand’s next generation model.”

If you’re a bit confused in light of the brand’s recent EV moves, don’t worry. The Acura ZDX/Honda Prologue siblings are built on GM’s “Ultium” architecture, though the Japanese automaker already signaled it will move to its own in-house platform for its next EVs. In essence (and literally, in Honda’s case), the electric cars you can currently by are the prologue to the main story coming up around 2026. Honda’s “0 Series” has already spawned Saloon passenger car and “Space-Hub” van-like concepts, so this will likely be the first glimpse of what we can expect from Acura’s side.

We’ll have to stay tuned until next week to know more, and there will be several other pieces of news to keep an eye on beyond this debut. Next week will be pretty exciting, and we’ll make sure to bring you what information we can right here (you can also check out AllTFL.com for more)!
