2024 Elantra N at first glance
Hyundai recently updated the Elantra N for model year 2024. The update includes a minor facelift with new LED headlights and a redesigned front fascia. Updates to the front end look subtle at a glance, till you see the new and old cars side by side. Elantra N’s new fascia brings the body color higher, while also simplifying the grille into a less busy pattern. Hyundai reshaped the headlights as well, possibly the most noticeable difference between the pre and post facelift cars.
Rear end styling takes on a new shape as well. Though the tail lights remain unchanged, Hyundai revised the rear diffuser and fascia. The new rear end has more black, but is otherwise mostly the same. For 2024, the Elantra N also sports much more symmetrical black wheels than the previous car. Those forged alloy wheels, however, are still wrapped in 19 inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires as before.
Under the Elantra N’s skin
More changes lie in refinements made to tweak the car’s driving characteristics. Hyundai reinforced the engine mount and G-bushing, and swapped from rubber to urethane on the rear suspension S/ABS bushing. That’s a very technical way of saying they added stiffness which Hyundai claims will improve yaw response, damping and steering. New Elantras get better steering components including the universal joint and power steering software as well.
Hyundai says the electronic suspension and stability control also have better software programs than before. Arguably much more impactful is the 33 pounds of unsprung weight reduction thanks to the car’s new wheels.
Here’s what hasn’t changed
Just as before, the 2024 Elantra N makes 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine. Either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed DCT sends power to the front wheels only using an electronic limited slip differential.
Pricing for the new model jumps up from $34,015 to $34,815 for the 6-speed manual option, an increase of $800 (including Hyundai’s $1,115 destination fee). If you spec a DCT you’re looking at $36,315. Aside from that, there really aren’t many options. Every Elantra N has a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and same size navigation screen. Heated seats, Bose speakers, wireless charging and everything else you’d expect all come standard.
