The minivan segment is heating up to a level it has not been at for many years. The latest player is this fully-redesigned 2018 Honda Odyssey. The all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and the updated Toyota Sienna are the other big players.
Pacifica continues to win awards, and rightly so. It is a well designed and well built minivan that many new convenience feature that modern families desire. Can the 2018 Odyssey match it or raise the bar even further? Roman took both vans our for a first drive comparison review.
Both minivans offer a V6 engine and a high-tech transmission (9-speed in the Pacifica and a 10-speed in the Odyssey). Fuel economy is an important metric for a family hauler, but roominess, convenience, and utility are the main deciding factors. 2018 Honda Odyssey EPA fuel efficiency rating rating is not available as of this writing.
Both of these vans have clever seat folding and sliding features, and they are both available with front-wheel-drive only. If you must have AWD in a minivan, the Toyota Sienna is still your only choice.
