With the release of the Smart Fortwo all-electric vehicle, what has changed with the world’s smallest car?
TFL’s Roman Mica learned recently after taking the 2017 model for a spin recently and comparing it to the Smart cars he’s driven in the past. Roman wanted to see if the new Smart was indeed style over substance.
While driving, Roman said he could almost touch the back of the vehicle even though the new Smart car is bigger than its predecessor.
Under the hood, the electric car comes with a 17.6 kilowatt battery that produces 80 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. It can also travel between 70 and 80 miles between charges.
However, there were some downsides to the new Smart. Although it’s bigger, there really isn’t room for people’s smartphones or an average sized water bottle. With the short wheelbase, people driving or riding in the car can definitely feel all the bumps of the road.
Some of the pluses of the new Smart is it works well in urban settings with people being able to park in tight spots or making tight turns.
What were some of the other pluses and minuses of the new Smart? What will be the price once it’s officially released? And, was it style over function? Find out by watching the complete TFL video above.
