The Lexus IS, the company’s entry-level sedan that also appeals to enthusiasts thanks to its light weight and rear-wheel-drive layout, will debut its updated look at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

The front end of the IS got a complete makeover. New headlamps and bumper-mounted air intakes join an updated Lexus trademark grille (affectionately called the “angry Cylon” look). The hood has been reshaped for a more dramatic drop and to enhance the look of a low center of gravity. At the back, the IS gets updated rear lights and rectangular chrome exhaust tips.

F-Sport models get a black metallic mesh grille that incorporates functional brake ducts. All models get standard 10-spoke, 17-inch wheels with new designs and finishes.

Inside, the big change is additional technology, in this case a 10.3-inch infotainment display, an increase of more than three inches over the current model. The Remote Touch Interface, which failed to impress during TFLcar’s review of the 2015 ES300h, has been updated to include an “Enter” button for ease of operation.

As is the norm in new cars, an array of driver assistance systems are also available. Called Lexus Safety System +, it includes a pre-collision system, radar cruise control, automatic high beams and lane departure assist.

New colors inside and out complete the IS’s makeover, with Deep Blue Mica and Graphite Black Glass flake added to the exterior paint options and a new Chateau color scheme replaces both Ivory and Moonstone of the current car.

Engine choices and trim levels stay the same. The 200t RWD is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 241 horsepower, the 300 AWD is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 making 255 horsepower, and the 350 RWD and AWD are powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 making 306 horsepower.

Lexus hasn’t disclosed pricing or availability of the new IS as of yet.
