The 2015 Volvo V60 Cross Country feels like a purpose-built mountain machine. Â Its turbocharged engine routes power to all four wheels, and its raised suspension offers enough ground clearance to tackle deep snow and ruts.
Factor in the 2015 Ford F-150, also with a turbocharged engine, four-wheel-drive and a “raised” suspension, and you have a pair of equally-adept snow crushers.

Some folks may recognize the Switzerland Trail as one we have used in our videos before. Â This time, however, it was covered in up to two feet of fresh powder. Â Nary a 4×4, snowmobile, or hiker had yet traversed the path when we arrived.
Either way, both the 2015 Volvo V60 and the 2015 Ford F-150 felt solid, sure-footed, and capable.  Both engines, four/all-wheel-drive systems and raised suspensions were more than up to the task.
For those wondering, we have achieved upwards of 28 MPG on straight highway stints in our 2.7-L EcoBoost-equipped F-150, which we weighed empty at slightly under 5,000 lbs.  The 2015 Volvo V60 Cross Country, for comparison, is rated at 20/28 city/highway MPG, respectively.
